Coining the term, The Book of Mindkind is a philosophy of hope in a time of despair, a wakeup call in a time of danger, and an engaging quick read for the curious-minded.
The theory of Mindkind is an entirely original philosophy, likely the first to be conceived in the past century, certainly the first of the new millennium.
People are looking for new ways to think about the human society rapidly evolving around them, and they are searching for answers and solutions to the age-old questions of existence. The world may not be spinning out of control, but it can no longer be held together by the beliefs of the past.
Now, more so than ever, with political extremism—driven by corporationalism and religious fundamentalism—shutting down democratic processes and suppressing rationalism, there is a critical need for social, spiritual, and political alternatives.
The Book of Mindkind is not a new-age philosophy—rather it presents a logical foundation for a practical worldwide solution for the social, economic, and environmental crises facing human existence.
The book brings together the scientific elements of time, Earth, and humanity in exploring the evolution of the brain and the mind it produces, and it examines religion and culture in developing the thesis that humans are members of a Universal Mindkind.
Essentially, the philosophy theorizes that humans, as the Children of Mindkind, are on the verge of flying from their earthly nest, as soon as the diseases of deception, hatred, and violence are cured and every child is provided with equal access to nutrition, health care, and education.
Collectively, these concepts are brought to focus on the future of human existence. Mindkind projects a vision of a bright unlimited and creative future, but necessarily considers a darker and more destructive alternative in which humanity continues to organize as warrior societies. It concludes with thoughts about the physical nature of the soul and the aura of mind.
Mindkind has an appeal to thinking people of every culture and every language, who are seeking purpose in their lives. It especially speaks to young people, who are questioning ancient religions and current governments, and to women, who are weary of the discrimination they suffer in male-dominated societies.

Review
"The Book of Mindkind is a tour de force of history. It is much more accessible to the average reader than Stephen B. Hawking's A Brief History of Time." ~ Dr. Guy R. McPherson, Professor Emeritus, University of Arizona, Walking Away from Empire
"A noble vision for humanity, a philosophy and morality for all to follow." ~ Stan Gibilisco, science writer, Alternative Energy Demystified
"Very well put together and readable in one sitting. I couldn't stop reading until I finished it." ~ Rob Kall, editor and founder, OpEdNews
"Inspiring and well written." ~ Professor Michel Chossudovsky, Director, Centre for Research on Globalization, The Globalization of Poverty and the New World Order
"Mindkind has an all encompassing thematic bent that it is very reminiscent of James Burke's wildly successful PBS series Connections." ~ Bruce Melton, Climate Discovery Chronicles: Recent, Relatively Unknown Discoveries About Our Rapidly Changing World (ClimateDiscovery.com)
"Cox offers an expansive and optimistic account of the history and future of human progress—as well as some bold suggestions on how to keep it going." ~ Matthew Hutson, science writer, The 7 Laws of Magical Thinking
"An easy and concise read that is a foundation for replacing the current failed system with a social democracy that benefits all the people." ~ Bev Conover, Editor & Publisher of Intrepid Report (intrepidreport.com)
"An interesting philosophical read based on science and mathematics comprehensible for most readers." ~ Richard John Stapleton, Professor Emeritus of Management, Georgia Southern University, Business Voyages
"In comprehending the entire text I've had a profound sense that the author has encapsulated an extraordinary amount of data. I have never encountered such a succinct discussion of our universe and our place in it. The text would surprise, inform, and challenge the average lay reader. The book is a compliment to the author's extraordinary intellect and creativity. It is easily comprehensible and well written." ~ Dr. William Tice Vicary, M.D.
"This brilliant and eloquent summation written in very accessible language encapsulates a vastly complex topic: from where did life originate and what is its future? William John Cox takes us through the scientific history of the universe and the earth; the likelihood of vastly intelligent life in the far reaches of the galaxies who’ve watched over our earth nursery in benevolence as we Homo sapiens have evolved, our human mind making us the unique species we are; the origins and similarities of today’s dominant religions, the purpose they served, and how they’ve been turned against one another and against the betterment of humanity; and like a disease eating away at our cultural soul, our wrong turn in devoting natural and financial resources into destruction rather than creation.
"The author then lays out a possible future our collective minds can choose to create: a social democracy that benefits all people whose mindkind preserves and cares for our unique life-sustaining environment. Or, as Cox points out, we can choose to remain on our present course and in the not far distant future destroy ourselves, our '200,000 years of human existence on Earth but a moment in time to the Universal Mindkind.' He poses a simple question: 'Are we creators or destroyers?' Do we turn our WMDs into museum artifacts and educate and unleash our children equipped with a mindkind that further creates, allowing them to fly from the protective nest to explore the universe in which our protective home abides, indeed to continue evolving to see how far our human mindkind can take us—or not?
"Having read a few of the extensive references, Cox points to, I know how much knowledge has been synthesized into this highly intelligent ‘little book.’ It inspires in me a fervent wish that it could become required reading for every student in every high school. I can only marvel at the seeds that would take root in the imaginations of youth as they prepare to meet the “population, economic, environmental, and militarization crises” we’re leaving to them to solve. At this cliff’s edge point in time when our political leaders are defunding public education while privatizing for profit and ‘mind-control’ our youth’s potential and their future, and Christian fundamentalists are home-schooling, and at the same time elbowing into the field of rewriting textbooks and dominating curriculum in our schools in order to create a false ‘creationism’ reality that obliterates the knowledge of our past, preventing its being expanded and built upon for a better future, how much better The Book of Mindkind. ~ Janet Wise, fictional author of The Black Silk Road and A Midnight Trade and comments on Zeitgeist Change.
About the Author
For more than 45 years, William John Cox has written extensively on law, politics, philosophy, and the human condition. During that time, he vigorously pursued a career in law enforcement, public policy, and the law.
As a police officer, he was an early leader in the “New Breed” movement to professionalize law enforcement. Cox wrote the Policy Manual of the Los Angeles Police Department and the introductory chapters of the Police Task Force Report of the National Advisory Commission on Criminal Justice Standards and Goals, which continues to define the role of the police in America.
As an attorney, Cox worked for the U.S. Department of Justice to implement national standards and goals, prosecuted cases for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, and operated a public interest law practice primarily dedicated to the defense of young people.
Professionally, Cox volunteered pro bono services in several landmark legal cases. In 1979, he filed a class-action lawsuit on behalf of all citizens directly in the U.S. Supreme Court alleging that the government no longer represented the voters who elected it. As a remedy, Cox urged the Court to require national policy referendums to be held in conjunction with presidential elections.
In 1981, representing a Jewish survivor of Auschwitz, Cox investigated and successfully sued a group of radical right-wing organizations which denied the Holocaust. The case was the subject of the Turner Network Television motion picture, Never Forget.
Cox later represented a secret client and arranged the publication of almost 1,800 photographs of ancient manuscripts that had been kept from the public for more than 40 years. A Facsimile Edition of the Dead Sea Scrolls was published in November 1991.
Cox concluded his legal career as a Supervising Trial Counsel for the State Bar of California. There, he led a team of attorneys and investigators which prosecuted attorneys accused of serious misconduct and criminal gangs engaged in the illegal practice of law. He retired in 2007.
Continuing to concentrate on political and social issues since his retirement, Cox has lectured, taught classes at the university level, and produced a series of articles and books. His primary initiative is the United States Voters' Rights Amendment (www.usvra.us & www.y4vra.org).

A Cosmos of Mindkind
By Stan Gibilisco
I got my copy of "The Book of Mindkind" as a gift from a friend who told me that my philosophy reminds him of the lyrics to John Lennon's song "Imagine." William John Cox's Mindkind concept carries that same notion much further.
Dr. Cox interweaves physics, biology, philosophy, politics, and even a bit of mysticism into a tome 105 pages long. He shows us that competition can no longer advance humanity, and has in fact already begun to destroy us.
After reading "The Book of Mindkind" I gather that Dr. Cox believes that cooperation, not competition, will serve humanity in the future, but he questions whether we, individually and as a species, have the strength of will to make it work. Nonetheless he helps you imagine a time when we have overcome our collective moral disease and venture beyond Earth into a realm where other life forms greet us: "We've watched you and hoped for you. Welcome."
Whether or not you agree with Dr. Cox on every point, you will find "The Book of Mindkind" concise and compelling. I rate it a must-read.

Mindkind does what an exceptional book should do, enlighten ...
By C. Foerster
Mindkind does what an exceptional book should do, enlighten and stoke the fires of imagination. A moving mural of humanity in a small package that also warns us that our humanity is in a very precarious position. Perhaps one of the more subtle challenges for mankind comes in the chapter on religion, Mr. Cox alludes to the futility of organized religion and poses the question that maybe man should "do" for his fellow man rather than just to "pray" for his fellow passenger on this giant earth-ship. If there is a God, he/she looking down on his creation must me appalled at what we, his servants have done to each other (and to our present nesting place in space) in his name. Humanists don't seem to have that bent but maybe they can be defeated if they become too much of a threat. A valuable read.

A fascinating book... a tour de force ...
By Amazon Customer
A fascinating book...a tour de force...that covers humanity and how we have advanced throughout the ages. The author gives us hope for the human race if we can overcome our destructive nature and give in and adhere to our truly noble potential. A must read and it flows so smoothly that it can be read in a brief period of time. I must add that the book should be read more than once to fully appreciate the book.
