About the Author
Michael P. Balzano, son of working-class Italian immigrants from New Haven, Connecticut, was a high school dropout and garbage man before earning his doctoral degree from Georgetown University. He served in the Nixon White House and was a campaign strategist for both Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. He has built bridges between Fortune 100 CEOs and industrial-base unions.

Cuts Right to the Chase about Reinvigorating the America Dream -- Not To Be Missed!

A good, quick readable narrative about hard-working Americans,who today have been largely abandoned by the media and both political parties, written by the first generation son of Italian immigrants who lived much of the story himself and writes with first-hand knowledge. Balzano, a one time garbage collector who later attended Georgetown University, where he earned a PhD (mentored by later UN ambassador Jeanne Kirkpatrick) in political science. He applied the knowledge he gained throughout the rest of his amazing career, working with both political parties, labor unions and hard working American citizens who played by the rules and worked hard to better their lives and get ahead.
The book's dedication quotes his Italian grandmother "In America, the streets are paved with gold, but you have to bend down to pick it up."
The author then notes that "In her own way, she was instilling in me the assurance of the foundational principle of our country -- the achievement ethic -- that rewards are based on merit, not on class or heritage or money or position of power, that all who come to this country have equal access to the American Dream." In the pages that follow, Balzano proves her wisdom, and gives his views on how to keep that Dream alive.

Politicians and bureaucrats take note – Building a New Majority is your textbook on why the American electorate is so angry. It is a story of how simple relationship “blocking and tackling” is critical within the structure of government, as told by a traditional American achiever with ethic roots in the blue collar community. The story is like a well written song, one will be able to interpret and apply the stories and outcomes to their own personal experiences within both the public and business political arenas.
Balzano tells stories of America’s great leaders developing relationships with the heart of what makes America great – The working class family and the blue collar organizations (both business and local unions) that represent them. He clearly connects this recurring process of how non-traditional blocks of blue collar/ethnic voters empowered both political and business victories. Sadly, Balzano then highlights how consistently, communication gaps within a visionary’s chain of command, undermined the cultural/political gains from those blue collar relationships. This is a textbook which allows one to see the roots of American’s cultural decline that are hidden behind poor management implementation and communication of the visionary's commitments to build upon what made America great - Our Industrial Infrastructure of skilled workers and entrepreneurial businesses.
Pass this on to others that they may see that the future can be better by communicating and honoring each of the commitments our leaders make to insure that America can produce. Michael Balzano provides a roadmap of fundamental truths that highlights a pathway back to ethics of achievement and the honoring of the American Worker. This is a timely reflection that needs to get visibility and serious consideration in the 2016 presidential race.

A very thought provoking read.

Aside from the political message and insightful advice to the Republican party and to all Americans realized from a successful career both
political and private, the author shares so much more. The inspirational seed was planted by primarily two wise women, one who knew the
"value" of hard work, the authors grandmother, and the other his mentor and professor who shaped his career giving the author the insight to
advise Republicans on winning over the Democratic vote and to all people the ethical advice on achieving the American dream.
The authors message will inspire students to adhere to the importance of educational and intellectual achievement no matter what your
immediate circumstance may be as told by the authors own experiences. I came away with the knowledge that streets lined with gold or
streets lined with pebbles requires the same effort and the choice of which one you want to pick up.
