Steve Nazarian is an adventurer and a storyteller. When he was in college, he and his best friend Stuart developed a simple philosophy, “no matter how any given situation turns out, as long as you come out of it with a good story, it was worth doing.” For nearly half a century Steve had been living the stories that come from epic adventures, the banality of life and everything in between. Steve lives in Penfield, NY with his wife Emily, four children and one dog. Warning: you will read this and then want to buy more for your friends. I found this book so inspiring, entertaining, genuine, and thought-provoking that I had to buy more for my friends and family. Nazarian's talent to relate to so many walks of life shines through. I look forward to future releases.

Great stories that entertain and educate

I stumbled across Steve's writing a few years ago, through his blog. I was immediately impressed with the engaging way he describes events and situations, much like another blogger I follow, James Lileks (lileks.com). I was happy to see "The Penny Collector" because it brings together a variety of Steve's stories in a gift-able format. You'll find the writing to be entertaining and even inspirational, and the stories taken from daily life. Beyond admiring Steve's writing style, I honestly learn something from each story, which meets Samuel Johnson's definition of good writing: it both "pleases and educates."

Steve has put together a collection of humorous, touching, interesting and quite relatable experiences in this comfortable read. What's enjoyabe is that these scenarios, that are entertaining as they are, become thought provoking life lessons at the same time. This, almost ironically, is the true function or backbone of his book. It's a subtle and almost sneaky "one-two punch" layed out by Steve. The collection is too entertaining and comfortable to not add to your weekly routine. A must read in my eyes! Great job, Steve Nazarian!
